Usually less. Because the gate moves sideways, you don’t need the wide opening arc required by swing gates. Making sliding gates ideal where space is tight or vehicles manoeuvre close to the entrance.
Tracked gates run on a ground track across the entrance. Cantilever gates are supported to one side and don’t require a track across the opening, which can reduce maintenance and avoid issues with debris, which can be especially useful in commercial yards.
